Another Step

So, after working with flash a little on my questions, I got onto Skype with the help desk and they helped me a lot with finally understanding the basics of Arrays and how they work. So, rather than make a lot of sections on the timeline, i will be using arrays to tell if they got the answer wrong or right and also recall if they have been asked the question before and if so to skip to another question that they haven't answered yea. Should be interesting twist to the designing of my project game.

another small step

After countless hours today, i got my random question script to work and posted it on the wiki code library. So, hopefully i get to code the answers with them tomorrow or the next day and start on the countdown part of the game and start placing the score section into the mix to track players progress as they play each time and keep there score.

But, thats it for today.

The Final Word!

My Final review as being in Game Design 1, but looking forward to the next.

This class was very awesome in general but I feel that more in class time would of worked out better, due to the problem of CS3-CS4 being a lot to buy for just the average person. So, being in class would mean more production on the output of our project files.

Question?

Should there be more than 1 scene? or just plan everything on 1 scene but if we can use more than 1 scene how do we tie them together with coding? like for example if you press a button, how does it open a section from another scene?

So, my question is what command ties them together like scene1 to scene2 and point to an effect in the timeline.

If anyone has the answer please share because i'll be up all night until I figure it out :)

Paper Prototyping

So,

**Where I Am with my Prototype?

>I have the idea's and my prototype is near being complete. First stage of the prototype will be either the Login or Register Page. Next, will depend if you have a profile or not. "IF" not the screen will goto a information screen on how the game works and than let you enter gameplay."IF" registered, the screen will goto your profile in the game.

>After that the screen will be a large amount of different buttons on the screen from tabs, to common push-hit buttons around the screen for the game. Along with mult-data feeds that update in real-time.

>There will be a Screen for the city, and other screens also about 10+ different screens.

**What will I need?

>So, I'll start with artwork. Ill need model arent work of different stages of buildings after your finished with the given task.

>Code I'll need ways to write codes on how to get the profiles to interact with the game. Also, coding to watch timers as items are finished building or upgrading during a period of time. A map interface and coding to penpoint locations much like a coordinate system.

Another Game - Try it out its simple

HighScore Game with Mysql Database, Dreamweaver and Flash

HighScore Game

The game is very basic, has a random number generator more like being lucky and entering your name but its a step to making a game with user accounts which i'm gearing toward.

Also, depending on my website if its working right, because its linked to the mysql database if its down the game will not work.

I Made this game following the [www.cartoonsmart.com] "Flash_PHP_MYSQL_pt1"

Everything was good but hard at first but the person in the video explained everything very well. My time on making this game was from 9AM to about 2:30PM on 3/8/2010.

I went from know nothing to a little something about the basics on how to connect the 3 programs together and to make a game.

It gave a lot of practice in a few areas in Flash with time frames and such along with a few other areas also which are going to be needed in this class. Anyone that needs the files that I got please ask.

Coming Together

I was brainstorming about the structure of my game and everything started coming together, just need to get Artwork and learn the coding now.

For the basic setup there is a Map View, City View, and Town View
Map View-Is where u get to see your location to each other players and do your movements.
City View-Is a place to view your resource types to provide for your city.
Town View-Is where you can select your buildings and interact with them.

Ideas for general Artwork
Most of the units and buildings are just models. At at different levels they could change their appearance.
The main screen to manage your cities, your overall troop count, rank and title, maybe an ad section also, overall life score during the game, Current Alliance group and position there.

Ideas for the coding
Most of the coding is going to be math formula, like for example: to build this you need 100 credits, so ("-100"unit/building, "100"currentamount)build time set to end at"xx:xx"
This game is going to have to just a database to track everything also.

Ideas on Quests for the game
Each member can take time in during quests to get different supplies, items, throughout the game.
Mini-Daily Quests will be added as there completed.

Ideas on different Playing VS "Player" and "Computer"
Player Vs Computer
Each member will be able to attack computer controlled preset cities called Non-Player-Controlled "NPC" during the game.

Player VS Player
Each member can also attack another player of the game at anytime because the game is live and never offline. When you log off its more like just stepping away from the computer. So, this will keep the member base coming back to check for anything new and etc..

Basic to Expect levels of each building
The game will have a mini level of 1 and a maximum of 20th level for buildings to advance. The game will be make it extremely hard to get past level 15 on buildings to make it challenging.

Supplies for Players
At the beginning of the game each player will be given a set amount of supplies to start with. But must be careful to build the right buildings first otherwise be stuck with the basic production rate of 100 each/hour.

Alliance limits and Uses
Each alliance will have a overall commander and sub-ranks with a max of 150 members per alliance.
When in a group(Alliance) each person will be able to talk withing the alliance chat-room sectioned off for the rest of the gamers.
Each member will be able to see if there members are being attacked or attacking, but only player vs player reports.

I.P. logger
The game will log the current I.P. of each user to keep them from windowing multi-copies of the game to create extra accounts. I think of this as cheating or trying to get a better advantage to the player with only 1 account.

Be become rank 1, and destroy your enemies.

Game Review 2

Jigsaw Puzzle – Solve Picture Puzzles

Learners point of view, seems very simple to understand how to play, scientific point of view should have more complex pictures to solve.

The layout was very nicely placed and upon entering the game the actual picture shouldn’t be posted until after its solved. But for the most part this game could be played by just about anyone to about 5 years of age so it’s a good all around game.

Suggestions, I would add levels to the events starting out with easy working there way to more harder levels with smaller pieces and shorter times as they make mistakes. And maybe a duel concole system for 2 player vs matches.

I like the idea of puzzles but not my type of game.

Game Review 1

Zeit Geist – Our game, “Zeit Geist”, is a time traveling platformer

Learners point of view, information was places ok interesting way to place a clock in the main place. Scientific point of view I would say the graphics could be fine toned alittle.

The layout looked alright but the game wasn’t very interesting to place, it needs more of an attraction to it. Information to place was fair enough to understand. And everything works.

Suggestions, I would add better graphics all together. Functionality was alright but I don’t think this fits my type of game, content was good but needs work.

restless times

After again thinking and thinking of a good storyline for a Modern Style MMORPG game still no progress on it or a title but I did have other ideas, that I wanted it to be 2 parts, one is player vs computer and likewise player vs player and bring them both together, with different advantages and disadvantages. The common goal of the players would be find and destroy the players, and also have some type of ranking system next to a profile system to track players and to log different items like I.P. address to keep cheating down and the fairness of the game stable.

Alright thats just me brainstorming a little enjoy.
